Following the conclusion of the FIH Pro League, U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Janneke Schopman has named the 16-athlete roster that will travel to Lima, Peru for the 2019 Pan American Games taking place July 29 to August 10. Included in the squad is Houston's very own Kelsey Bing (St. John's '16), who is also going into her Senior season this fall at Stanford University.

​The 2019 Pan American Games is the second most important sporting event of the Olympic and Paralympic cycle, with the champion qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Despite several nations taking part in each edition of the Pan American Games, only Argentina and USA have ever claimed the gold medal in women's field hockey. The USWNT have medaled in each appearance since women’s field hockey was introduced to the Pan American Games in 1987, holding two gold medals, five silver and one bronze. 

From July 26 to August 11, the Pan American Games will feature an estimated 6,680 athletes, 2,672 technical officials and 39 sports across 62 disciplines. Of these disciplines, 22 are for qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
