Kristina Edmonds | Level 1 Instructor
The clinic was a great opportunity to bring together coaches to not only learn skills as a whole, but also to see how much field hockey is actually played throughout the state. Field hockey has grown tremendously over the past three years, and that is really exciting. We are so lucky to have USA Field Hockey support us, and it's great to have coaches wiling to dedicate their spare time to learn a sport and work to improve the level of play. This is grassroots development at its finest.
Thank you to all participants who came out to learn and continue to grow the game of field hockey as well as to All Saints Episcopal School for hosting this clinic.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - April 22, 2016 - USA Field Hockey held a Level 1 Instructional Coaching Clinic this past weekend, April 16, in Fort Worth, Texas. The clinic attracted 25 coaches who learned about coaching philosophy, skill acquisition and technical aspects of the game. The session also gave an overview of goalkeeping, and how to incorporate and "teach games for understanding" to help make practices fun and purposeful. The clinic received positive feedback from participants and instructors:
Shawn Hindy | USA Field Hockey Level 1 Master Clinic Coach
Field hockey is growing fast in Texas, and this USA Field Hockey Level 1 Coaching Course was an excellent start to provide coach education and training for the eager field hockey coaches we have here in Texas and Oklahoma. The coaches were engaged, participatory, and enthusiastic throughout the day. We look forward to continuing their growth and development as aches and for expanding field hockey in this area.
Jason Wellings | Goalkeeping Instructor
Goalkeeping is such a crucial and often overlooked coaching area. Especially when a coach has a squad of out players to keep occupied. Sadly, for goalies the majority rules. This course was exciting for me to be involved with and ensure coaches have a solid understanding of teaching the basics. Additionally, how those basics can be worked on, even in drills that aren't traditionally a goalie specific one.
